Welcome to Year 1!

We have two classes:  Lark and Rook

Mrs Flavell teaches Lark class and Mrs Prince teaches Rook class. Mrs Clapham teaches in Rook class every Tuesday.

We are very lucky to have the support of Miss Kynoch, Mrs Mander and Mrs Wood.

Year 1 at Meadowside aims to teach the curriculum through a range of fun, interesting, practical and written activities.

We encourage the children to work together and promote social skills through all areas of our learning and play. We focus on key skills for learning including phonics and reading, kinetic letters handwriting and maths skills. We are keen to promote outdoor learning and will provide various opportunities for the children to add to their outdoor experiences. Throughout the year the children will engage in a range of learning experiences including welcoming external visitors, engaging in practical activities and trips within the local community.
