Year 5
Welcome to Year 5
The Year 5 classes are Kingfisher and Kestrel.
In the year group, Mrs Noureddine teaches in Kingfisher and Mrs King teaches in Kestrel. Both classes receive fantastic support from Mrs Mounir and Mrs Holyhead. All the adults work hard together to ensure all children are kept safe, get as much out of their learning as possible and reach their full potential
Throughout the year, the children will be practicing a variety of maths skills as well as continuing to develop and improve their writing. We will also be enjoying daily reading lessons in which we will explore a wide variety of texts, including non-fiction and fiction. We start the year by reading our first class novel – Onjali Q. Rauf The Boy at the Back of the Class; an exciting story of a nine year old boy who is a Refugee and ran away from a war. Year 5 will develop their knowledge of history and geography through three topics: Water, The Vikings and the Tudors and Stuarts. These topics are supported by a broad curriculum that helps the children raise their aspirations, build self-confidence and really enjoy their learning as well as preparing them for Year 6 and beyond.
We are keen to really get to know the children and watch them achieve new heights in their learning!
